Al-Tarbiyah: Jurnal Pendidikan (The Educational Journal) is a double-blind peer reviewed journal on Education published by the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Training of IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. Al-Tarbiyah: Jurnal Pendidikan welcomes and accepts qualified original research papers about education which are written by researchers, academicians, professionals, and practitioners from all over the world. This journal is published twice a year. Al-Tarbiyah: Jurnal Pendidikan has already had registration numbers of p-ISSN: 2442-6377 and e-ISSN: 2721-3595 issued by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). Al-Tarbiyah journal was inactive during 2016-2018. In 2019 this journal started continuing the publication of Volume 29.

Abstract

AbstractThe Basic Reading Syllabus has an important role in teaching reading. It contains the text types that should be taught for the students. Text is one of the prominent tools in teaching reading since the purpose of reading activity is to get information from the text. By the changing of global situation, the basic reading syllabus should adapt the theme of the text that appropriate with the recent world. One of the issues which spread out all over the world is about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people to have a better life. Through the syllabus, teachers can measure how far the effectiveness and renewal of a teaching material are. Therefore, the objective of this research was to analyze whether the Basic Reading textbook needed some revisiting in order to be relevant to SDGs criteria in its texts. Engaged by 55 students of the third semester and 8 lecturers who taught Basic Reading, the data were collected by giving questionnaires and were analyzed qualitatively. The research has found that the text in the Basic Reading textbook had 10% for the Suitable Environment dimension, which could be classified as poor. Suitable environment is considered as the Sustainable Development Goals content. By considering this finding, the text in the Basic Reading textbook needs to be improved by inserting of Sustainable Development Goals theme. Abstract

Pesantren mengalami rintangan dan hambatan dalam perkembangannya. Hal ini dikarenakan intervensi dari lingkungan yang menuntut perubahan di dalam pesantren. Perubahan di dalam pesantren juga dialami oleh Pondok Pesantren Pabelan. Pesantren dalam sejarahnya mengalami masa surut sebanyak dua kali menjadikan perubahan-perubahan di dalam pesantren. Perubahan tersebut mengharuskan pesantren menjadi lebih modern. Hal ini yang mendorong penulis melakukan penelitian mengenai modernisasi pendidikan pesantren di Pesantren Pabelan yang mana dalam prosesnya berusaha untuk mengembalikan pengaruhnya di masyarakat. Selain itu, dalam prosesnya tetap menjaga kultur yang ada dalam masyarakat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan historis dengan fokus utama proses modernisasi Pesantren Pabelan. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dapat diketahui bahwa Pesantren Pabelan dalam sejarahnya terutama pada masa surut kedua disebabkan karena ketergantungan pesantren terhadap kepemimpinan kyai dan permasalahan sosial di lingkungan pesantren. Dari permasalahan tersebut dilakukan perubahan diantaranya kepemimpinan secara kolektif; kontekstualisasi dan improvisasi metode pembelajaran, kontekstualisasi kurikulum dan perubahan yang mengedepankan kaidah hukum al-Mukhafadzatu ‘ala al-qadim al-ashalih wa al-akhzu bi al-jadid al-ashlah.

Abstract

AbstrakBuku Paket adalah sumber belajar utama dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah karena belum tersedianya fasilitas pendukung yang baik untuk mengakses sumber belajar secara online. Untuk itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pertimbangan guru dalam memilih buku paket Bahasa Inggris yang berkualitas berdasarkan profil, konten dan kesesuain dengan kurikulum. Sampel penelitian ini adalah empat guru yang berasal dari MTsN dan MAN Kota Cirebon. Pendekatan yang dipakai adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sedangkan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa para guru memiliki pertimbangan yang positif dalam memilih buku paket. Meraka mempertimbangkan kebutuhan siswa, kesesuaian materi dengan agama, budaya lingkungan, dan dengan KI dan KD dalam silabus. Hal ini menujukkan bahwa eksistensi buku paket di sekolah masih dibutuhkan dan bergantung pada kemampuan guru dalam memilih buku paket yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu memperkaya pengetahuan dalam memilih buku paket bahasa inggris yang berkualitas baik.Kata kunci: buku paket, sumber belajar, pertimbangan guru, kebutuhan siswa  AbstractA textbook is the main source in the teaching and learning process because schools still lack of facilities to access online sources. Hence, the aim of this research was to investigate the teachers’ consideration in selecting qualified English textbook based on profile, content, and appropriateness with the curriculum. Four teachers from MTsN and MAN in Cirebon were recruited as participants in this research. The method of the research was descriptive qualitative. Interview and analyzing document were used to collect the data. The result of the research shows that the teachers have positive consideration in selecting textbook at school. They consider the students’ needs, the appropriateness of the content with religion, culture, environment, and KI and KD in the syllabus. It means that the existence of textbook at school is still needed and depends on the teachers’ ability in selecting which is suitable with students’ needs. Abstract

AbstrakToleransi merupakan sebuah konsep tentang kesadaran manusia ntuk menerima, mengikuti dan mengapresiasi orang lain dalam setiap aspek, seperti ide, kepercayaan, ajaran, dan lainnya yang mungkin berbeda. Tujuan utama dari konsep ini adalah untuk membuat harmonitas hidup manusia. Terkait dengan kondisi negara ini, serta dengan melihat kondisi keberagaman yang luas. Hasilnya kita membutuhkan agen toleransi antarumat beragama, salah satunya melalui pendidikan pesantren mahasiswa. Pesantren jenis baru ini menghususkan diri pada ranah mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan pemahaman keagamaan para santri. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini dilakukan agar dapat mengetahui proses penanaman toleransi antarumat beragama bagi para mahasiswa yang menjadi santri di pesantren khusus bagi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif di Pesantren Mahasiswa An Najah. Hasil penelitian ini adalah bahwa Pesantren Mahasiswa An Najah mengembangkan pemahaman santrinya akan toleransi antarumat beragama melalui dialog antaragama dan pelibatan dalam kegiatan antaragama.Kata Kunci: Dialog Antaragama, Toleransi, Pesantren Mahasiswa, Kerukunan  AbstractTolerance is a concept about human awareness to accept, allow and appreciate the others in every aspect such as idea, belief, thought, etc., which are probably different. The main purpose of the concept is to make a life harmony among the humans.  Related to this country condition and considering the various diversity. Interreligious tolerance agencies are needed. One of them is through the education of university students' Islamic boarding schools. These new kind of Islamic boarding schools specialized in students to develop their religious understanding. Because of that, this study was done to know deeper about the internalization process of inter-religious tolerance for university students becoming students in the Islamic boarding schools. This study was a qualitative research with descriptive analysis model done in Islamic boarding school for university students, An Najah Purwokerto. The result of the study shows that Islamic boarding school for university students, An Najah develops its students' understanding on interreligious tolerance through interreligious dialogues and interreligious activity involvement. Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif antara siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Meaningful Instructional Design (MID) dengan siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran langsung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dan desain yang digunakan adalah nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V MI Al Islam Majalaya. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas V-A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas V-B sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi dan tes uraian untuk mengukur hasil belajar kognitif siswa dengan berdasarkan indikator yang dikemukakan oleh Anderson & Karthwohl. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan peneliti yaitu uji-t. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif siswa antara yang menggunakan model MID dengan siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung. Hal ini disebabkan siswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran MID khususnya pada aspek reconstrucion mengutamakan terciptanya interpretasi pemahaman siswa terhadap pengetahuan yang diperoleh, sedangkan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran langsung karena pengetahuan yang diperoleh bukan penemuan sendiri sehingga siswa akan lebih cepat lupa dengan pengetahuan yang diperoleh.Kata Kunci : Model Meaningiful Instructional Design, Hasil Belajar Kognitif , Matematika   AbstractThis research aimed to describe the differences in cognitive learning outcomes between students who utilized the Meaningful Instructional Design (MID) learning model and those who utilized direct learning. It was quasi-experimental research and the design used was nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all fifth-grade students of MI Al Islam Majalaya. The sample in this study was class V-A as a control class and class V-B as an experimental class. The instruments used were observation sheets and essay tests to measure students’ cognitive learning outcomes based on indicators proposed by Anderson & Karthwohl. The data analysis technique used by the researcher was the t-test. The results show that there are differences in students’ cognitive learning outcomes between those utilizing the MID model and those utilizing the direct learning model. It is because students who take the MID learning model especially in the aspect of reconstruction prioritizing the creation of interpretations of their understanding of the knowledge obtained. Meanwhile, the knowledge of the students who take part in direct learning is not obtained from their findings, so they will more quickly forget it.Keywords : Meaningful Instructional Design Model, Cognitive Learning Outcomes, Mathematics

Abstract

AbstrakPengembangan keterampilan berpikir kreatif (creative thinking) dan kemandirian belajar sangat dibutuhkan di era ini. Di lain pihak, metode pembelajaran yang digunakan di Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon dirasa belum dapat menggiring untuk pengembangan keduanya. Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah desain pendahuluan untuk perkuliahan subject spesifik pedagogy dengan bertujuan merancang pembelajaran berbasis project based learning sebagai alternatif metode pengembangan keterampilan berfikir kreatif (creative thinking) dan kemandirian belajar mahasiswa. Adapun metode penelitian menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dari hasil wawancara dan observasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pentingnya pembaharuan dan penyegaran perkuliahan subject spesific pedagogy yang meliputi: re-orientasi perkuliahan subject specific pedagogy sesuai dengan keberadaannya sebagai calon guru profesional; pembenahan terhadap empat komponen strategis kegiatan perkuliahan; serta pengembangan model perkuliahan yang sesuai dengan perspektif andragogy yang menempatkan pengalaman otentik dengan penguasaan teoritik secara proporsional.Kata kunci: berpikir kreatif, kemandirian belajar, project based learning  AbstractThe development of creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning is needed in this era. On the other hand, the learning method used in the Tarbiyah Faculty of Teacher Training and Teacher Training IAIN Nurjati Cirebon has not been able to lead to the development yet. This research was a preliminary design for specific subject pedagogy lecture aiming at designing project-based learning as an alternative method of developing students' creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning. The research method used was descriptive analysis method. The data were collected from interviews and observation. The results of the analysis show that the importance of the renewal and refreshment of specific subject pedagogy lectures includes: re-orientation of subject specific pedagogy lectures according to their existence as prospective professional teachers; revamping the four strategic components of lecture activities; and the development of lecture models that fit the perspective of andragogy that places authentic experience with theoretical mastery in a proportionate manner.Keywords: creative thinking, self regulated learning, project based learning

Abstract

AbstractAs one of the prominent skills in English language learning, mastering writing is a must for students at various educational levels, yet many of them sometimes have difficulties in generating ideas, using grammar and vocabularies and maintaining unified ideas in their writing. Considering the problems faced by the students and practices needed by students to improve their writing skills, the teachers can use scaffolding strategy derived from Vygostky’s ZPD theory. It is believed that students can complete the difficult task that is a bit higher than their ability through guidance from more expert others. The purpose of the study was to figure out how scaffolding can be used to improve students’ writing skills.  The results of the study show that scaffolding can be used as teacher’s strategy to improve students’ writing skills by integrating the writing process in the genre-based approach representing the scaffolding. It shows how the teacher gradually removes his assistance as soon as students have the experience for completing the task. Through scaffolding, students will learn how to experience the strategy, rather than merely to complete the task and it leads them to be autonomous and successful writers.Keywords: Scaffolding, writing, and ZPD

Abstract

Discourse analysis cannot be neglected nor separated from our lives. Several experts even claim its importance in language teaching. The need to teach a language in context is something which is unavoidable. Therefore, a lesson plan to develop students’ discourse is needed. This paper reports on a result of teaching practice conducted at a language institution in Yogyakarta. The research was started from lesson plan development to teaching practice in the classroom. The lesson plan followed top-down approach and text-based approach on the model. It focused on the use of recombination activity. At the end of the lesson, three questions were given as a reflection for the students. The results show that half of the students succeeded in arranging the sentences into correct order for the recombination task. it was found that half of them agreed that title provision might help them in doing recombination activity. In addition, all of them also agreed that the knowledge of language features of the text helped them in doing recombination activity. They even mentioned that it was the knowledge of conjunctions that helped them in doing the activities. These results prove that the use of recombination activity may develop students’ discourse skills.Keywords: discourse analysis; recombination activity; lesson plan

Abstract

AbstrakPesatnya perkembangan teknologi menjadikan faktor menurunnya moral terutama sikap sopan santun. Pemberian stimulus dengan menyuguhkan video kartun dapat memotivasi anak dalam bersikap sopan santun terhadap orang lain. Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh anak kelompok A2 di TKIT Al-Umm Klangenan Cirebon. Tujuan penelitian: 1) mengetahui sikap sopan santun anak sebelum diterapkannya media audio visual kartun, 2) mengetahui penerapan media audio visual kartun dalam meningkatkan sikap sopan santun anak, dan 3) mengetahui sikap sopan santun anak setelah diterapkan media audio visual kartun. Jenis penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 16 anak, terdiri dari 13 siswa dan 3 siswi. Objek penelitian media audio visual kartun. Metode yang digunakan observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kegiatan menonton kartun dapat mengembangkan sikap sopan santun anak pada kelompok A2 di TKIT Al-Umm Klangenan Cirebon. Berdasarkan keseluruhan penilaian jumlah anak dan seluruh indikator terjadi peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Presentasi peningkatan pada pra siklus sebesar 43,85%, siklus 1 70,98% meningkat 27,12% dan siklus 2 86,49% meningkat 15,52%, sehingga prosentase peningkatan kemampuan sikap sopan santun melalui media audio visual kartun dapat mencapai indikator keberhasilan yaitu mencapai 75%. Langkah-langkah agar mencapai keberhasilan yaitu: 1) penjelasan secara bertahap dan terus-menerus, 2) teladan dan pembiasaan, 3) mengingatkan anak untuk bersikap baik, 4) pujian dan motivasi.Kata kunci: sikap sopan santun, kartun, anak usia dini  AbstractThe rapid development of technology has led to moral decline, especially in manners. Providing stimulus by presenting cartoon videos can motivate children to perform good manners towards others. The research was motivated by the A2 group children at TKIT Al-Umm Klangenan Cirebon. The purpose of this study included: 1) knowing the attitude of child courtesy before the implementation of cartoon audio visual media, 2) knowing the application of cartoon audio visual media to increase the attitude of child courtesy, and 3) knowing the attitude of child courtesy after applying cartoon audio visual media. The type of the research was a classroom action research. The research subjects were 16 children, consisting of 13 male students and 3 female students. The objects of the research were audio visual cartoons. The method used were observation, documentation, and interviews. The result of the research shows that the cartoon watching activity can develop the attitude of child courtesy in the A2 group at TKIT Al-Umm Klangenan Cirebon. Based on the overall assessment of the number of children and all indicators, there is an increase in each of the cycle. The pre-cycle percentage is 43.85%, cycle 1is  70.98% which increases 27.12% and cycle 2 86.49% which increases 15.52%, so the increase percentage in the ability to perform good manners through audio visual cartoon media can achieve an indicator of success that reaches 75%. The steps to achieve the success are: 1) a gradual and continuous explanation, 2) example and habituation, 3) reminding children to be kind,   and 4) praise and motivation.Keywords: manners, cartoons, early childhood
